Solomon Islands Third Highest Sexual Rate In The World

Solomon Islands though called Christian country but third highest in the world in violence against women and also high in sexual violence against women which not good for the nation.

Friday last week Women around the provinces gathered in Honiara to celebrate the No violence against during the celebration Women’s division of the Ministry of Women highlighted that Solomon Islands was high in sexual violence against women in which it is very shameful for a country called Christian country.

They said that every body should be part and partial in addressing the issue because before a girl reaches 15 years of age she already been sexually abused.

Lorna Adomea from the Ministry of Women highlighted that where the term Christian country is labeled against the country Solomon Islands. Because looking at the findings of the nation wide survey in 2008 children were abused in their early ages.

Ms Adomea said they were abused by their close relatives, outsiders and even their uncles which for a Christian country should not happen that way.

She said that they were being threatened by the perpetrators and forced to have sex with them which in the culture of the country also is very bad. Parents and families should be very careful with their children especially girls as they were victims of those violence.

She also said that every body should work together in raising awareness to the communities about those issues happened because if nothing been done then the problem will be continuing resulting in more to be victims in the future.
